March 2025 Favorites
Throwing it back to my favorite videos to watch on Youtube as a teenager. I’m giving yall a mix of my favorites of the month. Movies, music, books and everything in between. Here we go.
Reading:
Nothing better than a book exchange with your coworkers. I’ve recently come into the careful careful craft of borrowing books and actually giving them back. Thinking a lot about my graveyard of books I’ve given away and never saw again.
My goal this year is to read 25 books. That’s about two a month. This month my favorite one I read was Funny Weather by Olivia Laing. This is my second read of Olivia Laing this year, and boy am I a fan.
Funny Weather is a collection of essays in true Laing fashion. Their topics bounce from visual art to stories to performers. It’s a beautiful collection of both history and personal feeling. The way they write is insanely informational, while also never being boring. A true talent. Reading this book scratches that itch of college classes with your favorite professor. I think that’s why I keep crawling back to Laing. That, and their lines that really make you sit and read the same sentence over and over and over.
I’ve also been reading Alanna Miller’s Chirp Radio blog posts. Alanna is an incredibly talented writer. Her passion and heart bleeds over the paper. Every time she tells me to listen to a song I put down everything and go and listen. So, if you’re needing a new music rec, check her out!
My epic book stamp (thank you Frances and Carley) <3
Movies + TV:
White Lotus. Duh. Insane as always. Had to cover my eyes a couple times on my own doing and not my parents' hand. I’ve heard mixed reviews about this season, but I am loving it. Mike White the genius that you are. It takes true talent to make both School of Rock and White Lotus.
20th Century Women. I watched this movie earlier this month. I don’t know how I hadn’t watched it earlier. It’s such a beautiful movie about relationships, love, family, how you view family outside of a “normal” unit. It’s just so so good. I talk a lot about how I’d rather have a kid than a partner. I think this gives me hope that a life like that isn’t so scary, and would be really beautiful. It’s one of those movies where you just feel amazing after watching it. So go watch it.
Clothes + Cosmetics:
Me and clothes. A love that will never die. This month I’ve been really into funky tights and socks, still. Socks really are that touch to an outfit that people forget, but I think it really matters.
Jungmaven underwear. The best undies ever. They make me feel so cozy and cute.
My red Le Bon Shoppe sweater. It’s beautiful, it’s the perfect red, and I always get compliments on it. Shop local!
I’ve loved wearing dresses as skirts. If you don’t want to wear the dress because it feels “too dressy” or “not enough” put a sweater over it. Put a tshirt over it. Put a button up over it. Then it’s like you have a little secret because people are like ‘oh my god, love that skirt.’ And you say ‘it’s actually a dress! Hehe.’
My roommates and I went on a shopping trip downtown. I got the new Glossier perfume. I’m testing it out because I'm really attached to my scents, but I’m digging this one so far. I also got the blue sky wash and purple lidstar so I stop stealing Sici’s. I’m loving all these products. Makes me feel chic and pretty. Been really into feeling chic and pretty.
Me looking chic and pretty on St. Patty’s (there’s a dress under my shirt)
Music:
HAIM’s comeback brought me back to their song “Gasoline” off of the 2021 album, Women In Music PT. III. This is one of those songs that I listen to and think ‘damn I wish I wrote this.’ It’s this feeling of knowing the right path and going to the wrong one, just because it feels good. Even if it’s just for a moment, a quick burn is better than nothing. “Gasoline, pretty please/I wanna get off/But you’re such a tease.” OOOF what a line. It’s simple, but gets the job done.
Japanese Breakfast finally released their album For Melancholy Brunettes (& sad women)!!!! I’ve been the most annoying person in the world asking literally everyone in my life if they’ve listened yet. While it’s obviously different from Jubilee, Michelle Zauner charms in a melancholic way, giving the listener an album that I can imagine as a really cool movie soundtrack. There’s still the poppy moments that I think so many people loved, but there’s really beautiful grounded tracks that center around those more internal conversations giving space to yourself and permission to feel it all. Claps claps claps for Zauner and the Jbrekkie team. They’ve done it again. “Honey Water” is my favorite on the album. It’s the perfect partner to “The Woman That Loves You” from their debut album.
Saya Gray’s album is so so good. I think we’ll be seeing it all over “The Best Albums of 2025” lists. It’s bubbly and airy while staying grounded in its lyrics and emotion. Perfect spring album honestly. I listened to it while walking downtown. “..THUS IS WHY (I DON’T SPRING 4 LOVE)” accompanied me over a bridge during sunset. It was the perfect track for that moment. I took a step at the top to look around all the big buildings and the West Loop patrons running to happy hour.
I can’t wait for Blondshell’s album, I’m gonna lose my mind waiting till May. Until then “T&A” will keep me company.
As always, I’ve been into making playlists. A couple good ones have come out of this month. You can listen to this one, and this one.

Random:
Mine and Sici’s birthday!! It was so fun and polka dot and striped themed. The grrrls looked amazing as usual. It was so fun to see all the people I love in one room. I felt giddy and older and I loved every second of it, once I got over the fear of being 24.
I sang “Hurts So Good” at the karaoke bar and got two numbers. #win. I did not text them. #win.
My coworker’s “moon report.” It makes me feel more prepared to know what’s coming from the universe.
My coworkers got me a book stamp and I’m addicted to it. No more books being stolen!
Went to Esther Povitsky’s comedy show. It was so funny and so fun. She went through Kayla’s bag and gave a shout out to Sici and Kayla the day after. Big night for us.
I GOT A BIKE! Thank you to my beautiful friends for gifting it to me. I’ve been riding around and I feel free and on the move.
Queen Mary’s martini paired with caviar and chips. Favorite bar in the city, no one does it better.
MY BIKE! Wait is that a dress under a sweater again??!!
I hope you enjoyed this crazy list and take some things with you. Go get a martini, put your headphones on, and read a book.
